Projects Update: 2025 Highlights

By Sarah Wilson | Communications Officer

2025 Highlights

2025 has been an exciting year for Kids Club Kampala. In April, Kids Club Kampala officially partnered with The Mango Tree. This partnership has enabled us to expand our life-changing impact and reach even more children and families in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. We are looking forward to seeing how we can collectively make a difference across East Africa for years to come.

Your continued support has made it possible for us to reach even more children and families in vulnerable situations. Thank you.

In 2025, our Child Protection Programme continued to empower children and young people across 10 slum communities in Uganda. Our Child Protection Programme aims to address child abandonment, abuse and neglect by providing a range of targeted activities for children and young people, safe spaces for children, a community-based abuse prevention approach, support with social justice cases for children who have come into conflict with the law, and emergency care to safeguard children at risk of danger.

In 2025…

  • 5,952 meals were provided during the school holidays through our new Community Feeding Project.
  • 954 children regularly attended our Saturday Kids Clubs.
  • 64 boys and young men participated in our Football Project.
  • 678 girls accessed free counselling and period products through our Girls Support Groups.
  • 49 child protection cases were responded to by our 45 community safeguarding officers.
  • 26 children in vulnerable situations were rescued and welcomed to a place of safety at our Ewafe home.
  • 20 children were successfully reintegrated into loving families through our Ewafe Project.
  • 80 children in total were cared for at our Ewafe home, each receiving nutritious meals, medical care, education, counselling and play-based activities.

“I now have good coaches who have really supported me in improving my skills in football. I have been working really hard and I was even chosen as the number one goalkeeper for my school. I am so proud of it.” - Scott* (aged 14), Football Project

This year, our Access to Education Programme continued to give children the opportunity to learn through providing high quality education for free. This programme includes our Encouraging Education Project, which offers free early years education to 3-6 year olds, and our Child Sponsorship Project, which pairs children with child sponsors who cover the cost of their school fees.

In 2025…

  • 99 children aged 3-6 received daily education and nutritious meals at our Encouraging Education Project.
  • 243 children in total were sponsored to go to school through our Child Sponsorship Project.
  • 30 children were newly enrolled and warmly welcomed into our Child Sponsorship Project.
  • 646 children in Kenya and 164 children in Tanzania were supported with their education.
  • 1,828 children in Kenya and Tanzania were supported with mentorship and career guidance.

“I am deeply grateful to Kids Club Kampala for giving my son such a strong foundation. Thank you for the care, support, and hope you have given to us both.” - Elliott’s* (aged 8) father, Encouraging Education Project

Our Family Strengthening Programme offers people aged 13 and over the opportunity to gain a qualification, while also equipping parents with practical skills they can use to generate a sustainable income and lift their families out of poverty. This programme includes our Carpentry Project and our Tailoring and Knitting Project.

In 2025…

  • 245 individuals took part in our Tailoring and Knitting Project.
  • 167 students received business training and business support.
  • 16 young people participated in our Carpentry Project.
  • 6 people were supported with setting up their own small businesses
  • 29,000+ tree seedlings were distributed to schools and community groups in Western Kenya, strengthening food security
  • 6,000+ children were involved in tree planting in Western Kenya.
  • 1,520 farmers and community members were trained in sustainable agriculture.
  • 690 people attended training sessions on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

“I had always dreamed of learning tailoring, but the cost was too high, so I gave up on it until Kids Club Kampala came into my life. Now, I’m back on my feet. I plan to expand my business and one day teach others, especially those who want to learn this skill but can’t afford it.” - Bonnie* (aged 43), Tailoring and Knitting Project

“I would like to start my own carpentry business and teach other children who are also out of school. I am grateful to Kids Club Kampala for helping me and my brother.” - Finn* (aged 17), Carpentry Project

It would not be possible for us to achieve any of this without our supporters. Your support enables us to provide vital assistance to children and families across East Africa. Thank you so much!
