Charity Update Report - Annual Review 2016

By Corrie Fraser | UK Director

Dear Friends,

What a year 2016 has been; there have been lots of great times and some difficult times too. We have once again been overwhelmed by the amount of support received, and want to thank everyone who has helped us to bring hope and love to vulnerable children in Kampala’s slums this year.

There have been so many highlights for us this year. We have had 20 new child sponsors join us this year, meaning that we now have 108 children sponsored to go to school who would otherwise miss out on getting an education. Our Ewafe project for abandoned children successfully reintegrated 7 children back with their family members this year, and we built a playground at the Ewafe project home.

Our first intake of students at our carpentry vocational training project graduated this year, and we built a well in Jandira community, providing clean water for almost 1000 people. Our Encouraging Education project expanded to Namuwongo slum community, providing free education and a hot meal every day for an additional 200 out-of-school children every day.

In November we held our first ever Winter Ball which was a huge success raising over £5000 and just last week we held a huge Christmas party in Kampala for over 800 kids from Uganda’s slums. We could not have achieved all that we have this year without dedicated supporters such as yourselves so thank you!

However, 2016 has also had its fair share of challenges. Following the UK’s Brexit vote in June, we experienced the value of the pound plummeting, negatively affecting the exchange rate. This meant that any funds raised did not go as far and sadly several projects had to be scaled back. It has been a difficult year financially, however we thank God that He has brought us through and continued to provide.

This year has been a busy, challenging but rewarding one and we are so thankful for all the blessings that it has brought. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, fundraised, sponsored a child or volunteered with us this year, and thank you for all of you who have been standing with us in prayer. We look forward to 2017 and all that it has in store for us.

With very Best Wishes,

Corrie & Olivia
