Summer Camp Report

By Kozue Oka | Executive Director

WE DID IT!
WE DID IT!

So many magical memories were created at Summer Camp this year! Over the course of 3 sessions we welcomed a total of 69 campers, 5 Leader in Training participants, 21 care workers, and 18 Mirai no Mori staff.

By first time camper
“I missed everyone at camp, and cried at night after coming back from camp. It was my first camp and I was really nervous, but I am glad that everyone was so kind to me. I will treasure my t-shirt with everyone’s signatures, and will be back next Summer!”

By first time care worker
“After joining this year’s Summer Camp, I feel strongly that it is a place where children with emotional scars can experience healing. Being in nature and through outdoor activities, they learned to cheer on each other by shouting “You can do it!”, to support each other and to live together. I am happy to have met such a wonderful group of adults and children at Summer Camp: an important place for all. Thank you very much!”

We would like to thank you all, our sponsors and supporters from the bottom our hearts. Were it not for you all, another magical summer camp would not be possible! Looking ahead, we will continue our weekend programs and ask for your continued support. Thank you!

This year’s LIT program is almost at the half-way point. It seems they all came back from Summer Camp a little grown up. The preparation for the Final Project will become the focus from now on. It would be very exciting to see how they can use what they’ve learned so far to develop themselves even further in the 2nd half.
