In observance of World Malaria Day, this project will deliver 450 lifesaving mosquito nets directly to families in urban slums of Mararaba communities, where malaria claims lives every year. Through door-to-door distribution and education, we protect children and pregnant women from preventable illness. Marking Malaria Day with action, we turn awareness into survival and hope.
Nearly half of the world's population is at risk of malaria, and over 600,000 people, mostly children under five, die each year from the disease. Nigeria accounts for about one-third of global malaria deaths. In slum communities, overcrowding, stagnant water, poor housing, and limited healthcare leave families unprotected, forcing children out of school and deepening poverty.
To mark World Malaria Day, trained volunteers will distribute long-lasting insecticide-treated nets door-to-door in the slums of Mararaba communities. Each household will receive malaria prevention education and guidance on the correct use of nets. This direct approach ensures no family is missed and transforms Malaria Day awareness into immediate protection.
Beyond World Malaria Day, our goal is to reduce malaria infections, hospital visits, and deaths in slum communities year after year. Sustained net use will improve child survival, school attendance, and family productivity, helping communities move toward a malaria-free future.
