This project will restore Australia's most vulnerable landscapes by planting millions of native trees and creating Fire Wise habitats that protect both wildlife and communities from the growing impacts of climate change. Through the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife's Landscape Resilience Program, First Nations partners and local communities will establish native plant nurseries across the country, reviving critical ecosystems and helping Australia's unique biodiversity thrive.
More than 80% of Australia's species are found nowhere else on Earth - yet we're losing biodiversity at one of the fastest rates in the world. Native vegetation is being cleared at alarming levels, vital habitats are shrinking, and climate change is intensifying floods and bushfires. Today, over 2,000 Australian plants and animals are listed as threatened, and entire ecosystems are at risk of collapse.
FNPW's Landscape Resilience Program is restoring degraded land and strengthening ecosystems in the face of climate change. Over the next five years, the program will scale up to grow 9 million trees and create fire-resilient landscapes through the Fire Wise initiative - supporting wildlife, and the communities that rely on healthy ecosystems for clean air, water, and protection from natural disasters.
By targeting high-priority regions across every state in Australia, this program will help halt biodiversity loss, boost climate resilience, and restore hope for both wildlife and communities through hands-on restoration of ecosystems and empowering local people to reduce bushfire risks.
