This project will provide 43 high achieving students from Mukuru, the second largest slum in Nairobi, Kenya, with tablet computers and six months of wifi to access their online education until schools reopen. Schools have physically closed during the covid-19 pandemic, and therefore the only opportunity to access education is online.
We sponsor high achieving students from a desperately poor slum in Nairobi, Kenya to attend highly rated secondary boarding schools. During the pandemic, their schools were closed, and distance learning offered. Most of the places the students are living have no wifi. These children, with so much potential, are losing their educational opportunities. This project will provide each student with a tablet computer with wifi connectivity so they can maintain their education.
The tablets will enable the students to access their online learning during the pandemic. When they are physically back in school the tablets will continue to be used for enhanced learning.
These students will be able to realize their potential in school, and go on to become leaders in their communities and their country.
