WEP's Career Readiness Program

By Zoe Timms | Founder and ED

This season at Women's Education Project, LAMP Academy students are bringing three new SPARK Initiatives to life. By leading change in their communities, they are perhaps even planting the seeds of a career path of their own.

Planting Roots, Growing Corridors. This spring in Hyderabad, our students are establishing their own apiaries through One Green Corridor — learning the art and science of beekeeping while creating vital pollinator habitats in their neighborhoods. What begins as a single hive is becoming something larger: a living map of green corridors. Stay tuned as they grow this initiative!

Reading LAMP: Lighting Up Communities One Story at a Time. Across our partner communities, students are launching reading initiatives, bringing books, stories, and the joy of literacy to children, elders, and neighbors. Each student who leads a session steps into her community as a teacher, a leader, and a changemaker — all through the love of sitting together with a book.

The Red Bangle: A Symbol Born from Their Own Hands. Students are handcrafting red bangle bracelets for one another. The Red Bangle, awarded each year to outstanding leaders beyond the Academy, is now a symbol of leadership for every student who joins LAMP and a tradition in the making.
