We would like to share with you the creative activities the COLIBRÍ Learning Center has been up to this month. As a recently formed W/NP Learning Center we are so excited to see the results of their networking and community involvement. The beauty of the Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners is that by working together, we can make a difference, and this Learning Center is no exception.
The weekend of October 6th, the COLIBRÍ group in Estelí, Nicaragua had a festival complete with delicious food and beautiful handcrafts to help raise money to fund their projects and on-going expenses, but more importantly as noted by Maria, founder and coordinator, “to develop self-confidence, respect for each other, team work and practical skills.”
Maria further explains, “The funds raised have already helped to improve the entire electrical system of the kitchen and install a new tap to guarantee water and keep everything clean. This has only been possible thanks to the funds raised at the Colibri fair held on Sunday. Step by step we will go achieving goals that will make our community space beautiful. God bless all the people who support us, our students and the women of the COLIBRÍ Learning Center who will start receiving their cooking classes very soon. On behalf of the Estelí Colibri Initiative Nicaragua, we wish to thank from the heart the great effort made by mothers/fathers, teachers, our beloved students who were in charge of sales, women of the COLIBRÍ Learning Center, and on behalf of the coordination of this project and all the support groups say "THANKS" because once again we show that unity is strength. We do not want to stop thanking our dear and loyal friendships for their unconditional support. Collaboration, excellent leadership and fundraising are just a few of the characteristics that are apparent with successful Learning Centers. We are grateful to people who desire to come together for the good of others. The programs offered at the COLIBRÍ Learning Center are growing due to their positive effect on the youth and families in Estelí. Construction is proposed to begin this November 2019, so your support will have immediate results.
