The Learning Center project continues to offer classes in a variety of subject areas, especially useful has been the baking and sewing classes. One of the most exciting measurable results is seeing the women who were once students, become teachers for the new classes. The following photos are from the new Bakery class taught by a beneficiary student, Miriam. She was a participant in the last series of Bakery classes funded by the Racine Dominican Nuns and individual donors who have given support through the Global Giving Learning Center project. “Her teaching is well wanted by her participants.” - Isabel
Each week seems to become busier than the last; the photos are a sample of some activities taking place at the Managua office. While the classes of Bakery were being held in the Learning Center workshop area, Lilliam and Petronila, president of the Chica Nica/Learning Center committee were busy sorting out the boxes of donations to be distributed to the Learning Centers. The in-kind donations come from Wisconsin and are collected by women with similar interests who desire to help by providing materials that are needed in the classes.
Earlier this year in February, a pillow case construction workshop was given by Lorraine from Wisconsin to the Learning Center participants. Now Petronila and Josefa are preparing the materials for two mini workshops to be held next month on making pillow cases.
Thanks again to all who are supporting the Learning Center project that changes lives daily as the participants learn new skills.
