April is National Volunteer Month—a month dedicated to recognizing the importance of volunteering and honoring the significant contributions volunteers make by generously donating their time, talents and resources to worthy causes.
The Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners Learning Center Program is one example of a worthy cause and how working together we can make a difference. Volunteers devote a tremendous amount of time and energy to help out where and when they can. Each effort, no matter how small or how large, is greatly appreciated and has a ripple effect reaching more people than will ever be known.
The Learning Centers offer creative development opportunities through bakery, embroidery, crocheting, recycled crafting, and other activities. Many women and youth who have attended these classes have gone on to start small businesses around the crafts they learned at the centers, and this has aided them in supporting their families.
Thank you for your interest and helping to make the world a better place.
