Lifting up through learning

As the year comes to an end, we express our sincere appreciation for your interest and support.  Bringing caring people together changes lives, provides inspiration and gives hope to those with sometimes very limited resources.  By working together, projects have continued regardless of the circumstances.  Resiliency has proved to be common denominator in us all. 

The following comment from Yanina, one Learning Center leaders is representative of the impact you have helped to make happen.

“I have been a community leader with the support of WNP since 1999, a long time. Through my leadership as a sewing and crafts teacher, I have trained more than 600 children and adolescents, teaching them technical skills to lay the foundation for their personal development when they become adults. I have also given them talks on the prevention of alcohol and drug use, early pregnancy, self-care, and strengthening their self-esteem. I have also made them aware of their rights and responsibilities as children and adolescents.  I have trained more than 300 women and men in technical textile skills, including learning how to make custom-made clothing for men and women and creative projects for the home. These skills have helped improve their household finances because they have learned a trade that allows them to work from home, start a business, or sell their technical services.  All of this was possible with the indispensable support of WNP, which over the years has provided me with machines, materials, furniture, tools, and ongoing training to replicate with our care groups. Like me, there are many leaders doing the same work in different parts of Nicaragua, and many more are benefiting from these efforts.”

Your interest and support has helped to make these experiences possible, and we really cannot thank you enough.
