Our Girls are Thriving!

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted education around the world and has posed many obstacles for students and the academic world. In many countries, formal education carried out via broadcasting and online platforms, and some provided hybrid systems. This transformation unequivocally has exacerbated the inequality and those in lower economic strata have struggled to access online education the most.

Currently, 60% of the students in Turkey with disadvantaged backgrounds have no access to the internet, and due to the ingrained gender roles and misconceptions in the society, female students are impacted and fell behind in their formal education disproportionally.

One of the main working areas of Turkish Philanthropy Funds (TPF) is women's empowerment. With this project and our partnership with Cagdas Yasami Destekleme Dernegi (CYDD) in Turkey, we aim to support women and girls to achieve their dreams by tackling gender stereotypes that are imposed on girls and women, and in the long run, we aspire to be part of the societal change.
