Challenge

In Adana, there are over 220,000 refugees who are living outside the refugee camps. According to World Health Organization, out of the 220,000 refugees, there are estimated 4,000 - 7,000 disabled youth. Since the refugees are fleeing war zones, the number is believed to be higher.

Solution

The refugee integration project aims to: 1. To reduce the psychological and physical effect war left on these children. 2. Provide long-term workshops for Paralympics to enable refugees with the necessary tools they need to integrate and excel in life. In other words, the project aims to train children to become professional and accomplished athletes. The project provides transportation, turkish language classes, coloring classes, food, and also psychological and physical therapie

Long-Term Impact

The project creates a safe space for disabled refugee children to interact with their peers. It further helps with their self-esteem and invests in them to become more accomplished individuals. The Turkish language classes provide extra skills to enable disabled refugee children to interact in the Turkish language and eases the integrations process.
