A new school term begins - meals too!

During the month of August the children at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center - including the program's children from partnering schools enjoyed meals and activities except for a week vacation for the staff - and then a few days that the government pronounced it forbidden because of the government-run census. The new term has begun and so have the daily meals. It is practically a daily challenge to raise the funds for daily meals for 455 children 6 days a week!
For this reason, we are truly so appreciative of your wonderfully generous donations. We are constantly looking for new ways to raise funds and are very thankful for any great ideas and / or support. So please let us know what you think - and how we can creatively raise funds for meals for the children. Sometimes a little idea has a huge impact!
Asante sana- thank you so much!

Feeding SMILES one meal at a time!

Feeding Smiles
What a wonderful feeling to see children doing what children are supposed to do - what is totally normal - eating a nutritious meal without having to worry about the next one coming! Children should be carefree and happy - starting a school day with breakfast in their tummies to keep them alert and focused on their lessons - and know without a doubt that at lunch time a good warm meal will be waiting for them in the dining hall. But let's face it, that isn't how it is for hundreds of thousands of children all over the world every day. According to Mutual Responsibility.com "Every 5 Seconds A Child Dies From Malnutrition And Hunger ". Of course, we cannot feed all of them, and quoting Mother Theresa "If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one".
With your help, we have been able to provide meals for hundreds of children 6 days a week. Children who would have gone to bed hungry - woken up hungry - and, if they were lucky enough to even go to school - go to school hungry are now carefree and smiling children eating their lunch, playing on the playground afterward and are wide awake and yearning for new knowledge when the bell rings calling them back to class.
Let's keep those plates and tummies full and big smiles on their faces - just as children are supposed to be. Believe it - It isn't just a drop in the bucket to help feed these children. They are going to grow up into adults who will remember these acts of kindness and will pass it forward in their own way - with a SMILE!
Another quote from Mother Teresa "Peace begins with a smile".
Asante sana - thank you so much!

Another Meal - Another SMILE

Full Tummies - Happy and Alert Children
The children at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center in Nakuru, Kenya are very thankful for the support they are receiving. Charity is never something that can be taken for granted. People give from their hearts without even knowing the people that they are helping. The children know this as well as we do. For that reason, they are always ready to show their appreciation in the form of song, dance, written on the chalkboard thanking donors individually - and in prayer. The daily meals at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center and also at our partner schools the older children attend, are not just meals to fill tummies. They are meals filled with hope for a future when they will one day be able to use the gifts of education that they are receiving today and be able to pass it forward - to their own children and perhaps - like you - to children that they will probably never meet.
It is all a lovely circle. Thank you for being a part of this circle of love and caring.
Asante Sana - thank you so much for helping us to give these children reasons to SMILE.
