Let's take care of the elderly in DR from COVID-19

Quarter October, November, December 2023

Within the framework of this solidarity project, which we have created from the FUNDXUB Foundation and with the support of the Funcomas Foundation, our concern for the well-being of older and disabled people is expressed in the way to become one in the near future.

Development and Strengthening of the Capacities of the
families, of our elderly the possibility of raising awareness of these vulnerable people with psychological help, food, medicine, etc.

The Xiomara Ureña Báez Foundation, FUNDXUB. It seeks to address these issues through a series of strategic interventions.

The main objective is to encourage empowerment and improve their access to training and skills development, creating quality improvement opportunities, and promoting a healthy environment that is egalitarian and free of distinction.

This project has focused on three main areas:

Development of skills and training: to improve the competitiveness of families in their mental health and economic status within the possibilities that have guaranteed in this pilgrimage of their lived years that they have everything necessary, since in this state we are concerned about their ability necessary motor to access the basics in quality and well paid.

Support and food program for older people.
Creation of opportunities for workshops, donations, food, medicines, clothing to generate a favorable environment that allows families to access opportunities and entrepreneurship, and encourage their participation in sectors. So they can feel with values.
1. We held meetings this quarter in October, November, December 2023 through which more than 100 older adults benefited from baskets of encouragement and solidarity bonuses to help sustain the economic burden they are experiencing.

2. The 2023 year-end activity More than 100 of our seniors benefited with gifts, a delicious Christmas dinner was enjoyed with surprises and in conjunction with other foundations. (Joyas de Cristo and Funcomas among.) With the invaluable support of a group of volunteers, these events were held in the neighborhoods of Manresa Altagracia, Luz Consuelo Sur and other sectors of the National District, among others.

2. Supplement program for medications and health items attire.

75 older adults in Santo Domingo have been subsidized with doses of medication.

To the best of our ability, we have identified cases of older adults with health problems who do not have the financial resources or the necessary support to meet their monthly medication load.

Most of these do not even have health insurance to reduce their situation.
Therefore, every month we collect or buy as many medications as possible and distribute them, starting with the most serious cases.

3. Education program for the elderly.
October 2023

We continue with the development of talk-type events thanks to the kindness of volunteers who support us such as the globagiving platform and the families of the members of our institution. Thus raising awareness about the care of the elderly.
In them, expert educators (doctors, nurses, gerontologists and social workers) teach our beneficiaries tools to live with habits of well-being and health.

4. Disease Prevention and Protection Program.
We continue to provide them with Covid19 protection and prevention equipment with our donations, we actively continue our awareness of protection against this virus with packages of masks, disinfectant gel, alcohol, wet towels, surface disinfectant and waterproof gloves.
The purpose is to supply more and more elderly people with this type of items on a monthly basis, to avoid contagion, avoid human losses and reduce the spread of the virus.
