............................................................................................

Executive Summary

The Xiomara Ureña Foundation (FUNDXUB), committed to the well-being of the elderly and their dependent families, has carried out the “Caring for the Elderly” project during the period from December 2023 to March 2024. This project was designed to provide comprehensive support to the elderly and their families through a series of activities focused on improving their living conditions. The collaboration of individuals and institutions has been crucial to achieve the proposed objectives, making a positive impact on the community.

Activities Carried Out

1. Collaboration with Clubs and Neighborhood Associations

The foundation established strategic alliances with various clubs and neighborhood associations to identify elderly people in vulnerable situations. This collaboration allowed for the creation of community support networks, facilitating the implementation of other project activities.

2. Delivery of Food Baskets

Food baskets were distributed to families with dependent elderly members, benefiting a total of 300 families. Each basket contained nutritious and essential foods, ensuring the coverage of the basic food needs of this population segment.

3. Delivery of Medications for the Elderly

With the support of donors and local pharmacies, essential medications for the treatment of chronic and acute illnesses of the elderly were delivered. This effort was able to assist 200 elderly individuals, improving their quality of life and alleviating the economic burden on their families.

4. Awareness Talks on Elderly Care

Awareness talks were organized for the general community, focused on the care and respect for the elderly. These talks, given by professionals in geriatrics and social work, reached more than 500 participants, promoting a culture of inclusion and support for this age group.

Impact and Results

The “Caring for the Elderly” project has proven to be a successful initiative, achieving a significant impact on the lives of the elderly and their families. The activities carried out have contributed to:

  • Improving the food security and nutrition of 300 families.
  • Facilitating access to essential medications for 200 elderly individuals.
  • Promoting a culture of care and respect towards the elderly, directly impacting over 500 individuals through awareness talks.
  • Strengthening community cohesion and solidarity among society members.
