Personalized leukemia tests for Venezuelan kids

The Jacinto Convit Foundation (FJC) continues to consolidate its work with commitment and constant effort in the area of health in Venezuela, providing through the Molecular Diagnostic Unit (UDM), a free molecular diagnosis service in leukemias for the identification and early, specific and personalized treatment that allows the application of the most appropriate therapy for each patient; benefiting both children and adults from the 12 hospitals nationwide with which cooperation agreements are maintained. 

The majority of the population served belongs to families belonging to the low and middle socioeconomic strata, which face significant economic difficulties that prevent them from accessing diagnostic tests in private laboratories. In this context, the FJC stands as the only non-profit institution to provide these services free of charge, whose work not only contributes to the early detection of leukemias, but also alleviates the financial burden that many families must face. By offering these services at no cost, the Foundation allows more people to have access to accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatments, thus improving their chances of recovery and quality of life.

The funds raised on the GlobalGiving platform during the period between June and September 2024 were used to acquire reagents and supplies necessary for the diagnostic service, totaling 117 beneficiaries.
