18 Years of Work & New Challenges

By Mamikon Hovsepyan | Communications Director

Pink Armenia marked its 18th anniversary in December 2025, reflecting on nearly two decades of advocacy, support, and community-building for LGBT+ people in Armenia.

Founded in 2007, the organization has worked to amplify the voices of LGBT+ people and defend human rights through legal, social, and psychological support. Over the years, Pink Armenia has assisted thousands of people, established safe spaces and community centers, and contributed to legislative initiatives aimed at improving protections and inclusion.

In recent years, the organization has also expanded its work with refugees and asylum seekers, as the region has become increasingly difficult for queer people seeking safety. Pink Armenia organizes language classes and community gatherings for Arabic-, Iranian-, and English-speaking groups.

The organization also expressed concern about the renewed use of anti-LGBT rhetoric in the lead-up to Armenia’s parliamentary elections. It said both political opponents and those in power have repeatedly tried to discredit oponents by linking them to the LGBT+ community, a tactic it described as harmful and manipulative.

Pink Armenia stressed that sexual orientation and gender identity are natural human characteristics and should not be used as tools for political attack. It warned that exploiting vulnerable groups for political gain undermines dignity, private life, and other fundamental rights.

Please continue your support so we can keep helping as many people as possible.
