We open multilingual libraries and run storytelling workshops for socially excluded children in Germany, France, Morocco and Uganda. So far, we have built 15 libraries and run hundreds of workshops for over 2,300 children, a majority of whom are refugee children in Berlin. With your help, we will expand our libraries and workshops and continue to give children a safe place to learn and grow.
This campaign comes at a time of great instability for people all around the world. And sadly, as is often the case, children are some of the most effected. The wars in Ukraine and Palestine are directly affecting the children we serve in Berlin, Paris, and Morocco. Meanwhile, growing anti-refugee sentiment within German politics means many refugee accommodations in Berlin are seeing huge budget cuts for activities for children.
Lilipad strives to promote reading and education by providing socially excluded children with inclusive books, storytelling workshops and in-person training. We partner with local institutions such as refugee accommodations, shelters and community centres and establish children's libraries directly in their premises, as near as possible to the children. We see libraries as a haven where children can build resilience, learn and ultimately grow.
Our goal is to reduce educational inequalities in order to ensure all children, regardless of their background, are able to shape their own story. By supporting this campaign, you are allowing our community of more than 2,300 children to easily access multilingual and culturally relevant books and activities, all in a familiar environment where they can feel safe and included. You are also ultimately contributing to fostering their resilience, wellbeing and overall life prospects.
