Dear friends,
Warm greetings from educate.! It is an honour to share this report with you, highlighting the learning, hard work and impact that we have achieved together in the lives of children and young people in Honduras these last months.
At educate., we strongly believe in the transformative power of education. Our mission is to empower children and youth in Honduras through community-based initiatives focused on education.
At the end of 2025, we celebrated a very special milestone: the inauguration of four rural school libraries in the communities of El Carrizal, San Francisco, La Cebadilla, and Platanares - three in the municipality of Trinidad and one in the municipality of Chinda, and all in deeply underserved, rural villages where opportunities for young people are scarce.
This 2026, as the school year began in February, more than 180 children returned to their schools with something new waiting for them: shelves filled with books, stories to discover, and a space created especially for reading, learning, and dreaming!
For many of them, these books represent the first stories they have ever had within reach. Today, the libraries have become vibrant spaces where students explore stories, share readings, and strengthen their love of learning.
One of the most valuable aspects of our rural library network – which now spans 14 schools! – is its sustainability and strong sense of community ownership. Each library is supported and cared for by a School Library Committee made up of mothers, fathers, teachers, and students. Committee members participate actively, from the planning stages to the ongoing care and maintenance of each library. This shared commitment helps ensure that the libraries remain safe, active spaces for reading long-term.
Over the course of this year, we will be conducting follow-up visits to each library and administering surveys with children, parents, and teachers to better understand how these spaces are influencing reading habits, learning, and educational life within the community.
It is inspiring to see how, little by little, these libraries are becoming centres of learning and connection in rural communities where access to books is extremely limited.
None of this would be possible without you. Thank you for believing in the power of reading and for being part of this dream, one that is transforming the lives of children in rural communities across Honduras.
With gratitude,
Natalia Anariba
