Worlds of Possibility: Libraries in Rural Honduras

Thanks to your support, in 2025 we were able to advance our network of rural libraries, bringing reading and learning spaces to rural communities where children previously lacked access to books and educational materials. We are excited be be sharing this report with you about these new advancements!

In our rural communities, where distances are long and resources are scarce, a book can become a gateway to worlds that once seemed far away. Thanks to this initiative, children who had never had a library are now discovering stories that awaken their imagination, strengthen their voices, and allow them to dream without limits.

This year we have been able to work alongside four rural communities in the villages of El Carrizal, La Cebadilla, Plantanares and La San Francisco to collectively create unique, community-owned and -led libraries in each of these village schools. The inclusion of these new communities has led our network to now reach a total of 14 schools!

In each community there is now a safe, welcoming environments full of opportunities, including new books, shelves, flexible seating, learning resources, murals, and extensive teacher training to ensure the effective use of each of these spaces. Together, these new libraries reach more than one hundred children.

Every full shelf, every story read, and every moment of shared curiosity is a seed of hope that you make possible. Today, reading reaches places it never reached before, and education flourishes in corners that had been forgotten.

ESPAÑOL: Cuatro bibliotecas rurales abren puertas a la imaginación

Saludos desde educate.,

Gracias a su apoyo, en 2025 pudimos ampliar nuestra red de bibliotecas rurales, llevando espacios de lectura y aprendizaje a comunidades donde los niños anteriormente no tenían acceso a libros ni materiales educativos. ¡Estamos emocionados de compartir con ustedes este informe sobre estos nuevos avances!

En nuestras comunidades rurales, donde las distancias son largas y los recursos escasos, un libro puede convertirse en una puerta de entrada a mundos que antes parecían lejanos. Gracias a esta iniciativa, niños que nunca habían tenido una biblioteca ahora están descubriendo historias que despiertan su imaginación, fortalecen su voz y les permiten soñar sin límites.

Este año hemos podido trabajar junto a cuatro comunidades rurales en las aldeas de El Carrizal, La Cebadilla, Plantanares y San Francisco para crear colectivamente bibliotecas únicas, dirigidas y pertenecientes a la comunidad, en cada una de estas escuelas. ¡La inclusión de estas nuevas comunidades ha permitido que nuestra red llegue ahora a un total de 14 escuelas!

En cada comunidad ahora existe un ambiente seguro y acogedor, lleno de oportunidades, que incluye libros nuevos, estanterías, asientos flexibles, recursos de aprendizaje, murales y una amplia capacitación docente para asegurar el uso efectivo de cada uno de estos espacios. En conjunto, estas nuevas bibliotecas llegan a más de cien niños.

Cada estante lleno, cada historia leída y cada momento de curiosidad compartida es una semilla de esperanza que ustedes hacen posible. Hoy, la lectura llega a lugares donde nunca antes había llegado, y la educación florece en rincones que habían sido olvidados.
