Recent cuts in foreign aid have left rural Tororo, Uganda, without essential healthcare. Deva Health Services will bring life-saving medical care directly to underserved villages through mobile clinics, maternal-child health services, immunizations, and health education. The project will provide free diagnosis, treatment, antenatal care, and follow-up referrals, reaching 20,000 people. By restoring access to healthcare, the initiative saves lives, improves health outcomes, and empowers families.
In the remote villages of Tororo District, access to healthcare remains a daily struggle. Many communities lack basic medical facilities, and the nearest health centers are often hours away on foot. Preventable illnesses such as malaria, pneumonia, and complications in childbirth continue to claim lives unnecessarily. High Teenage pregnancies of 1 in 4 girls aged 15-19, high maternal and infant mortality rates of 189 per 100,000 live birth from preventable complications and shortage of medics.
Deva Health Services will conduct monthly mobile clinics offering free consultations, treatment, minor procedures, immunizations, and antenatal care. High-risk pregnancies and maternal complications will be referred to equipped facilities. Fifty community health workers will be trained to provide ongoing care, disease prevention, and follow-ups. Health education sessions will empower families with knowledge on hygiene, nutrition, reproductive health, and early care-seeking.
The project will reach 20,000 people, providing essential healthcare and supporting 5,000 women and children with maternal-child services. Fifty trained community health workers will continue care in their villages. Preventable illnesses are expected to decrease by at least 30%, maternal and infant deaths will decline, and adolescent reproductive health will improve. Communities will gain lasting capacity to protect their health. Donor support saves lives now and strengthens the future of Tororo
