Dear Friends,
Thank you for being there for children in Ukraine as they face the harsh realities of critical illness and a brutal war, with attacks night after night.
Since the beginning of 2025, more than 2,000 children have received vital support. Behind every number is a name, a face, and a fight. One of them is Albina, a 16-year-old girl from Sumy whose story shows just how much your support truly means.
Albina was diagnosed with cancer, and to stop the disease, doctors had to remove her toe and part of the bone in her foot. It wasn’t just painful, it was heartbreaking. At first, she couldn’t even look at her foot. She worried constantly about how it looked, how others would see her, and what it meant for her future.
But she didn’t let that stop her.
With encouragement from her mom and her classmates who kept calling and cheering her on, Albina faced chemotherapy and rehabilitation with quiet determination. Today, she walks without a limp. That’s incredible, especially knowing that at one point, doctors were considering amputating her entire foot. Albina knew that too. And still, she kept moving forward.
Thanks to your generosity, she had support at every step: medical treatment, physical rehabilitation, and the psychological care she needed to find strength during an incredibly difficult time.
Your continued support means more young fighters like Albina can keep walking toward a future filled with hope.
P.S. Give today and your gift will be matched through GlobalGiving’s Together for Ukraine campaign doubling your impact for children in need.
