Dear Friends,
Thank you for being there for children in Ukraine as they face the harsh realities of critical illness and a brutal war – but don’t stop dreaming.
Today I want to share the story of a girl you supported: a survivor who is now studying at Zaporizhzhia Medical College to become a doctor and help children like her – and whose father has also joined our cause.
Her journey began after a dance class, when she felt pain in her knee. At first it seemed minor, but it grew worse. After examinations in Zaporizhzhia and Kyiv, Nastia and her family heard the devastating words: bone cancer.
From that moment, Nastia faced a long and difficult road: multiple rounds of chemotherapy, surgery to remove the affected bone and place an endoprosthesis, and months of rehabilitation. She spent much of this time in the hospital, under close medical supervision. In the darkest moments, what kept her moving forward was the support of doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists – and, above all, her father Andrii.
But Andrii did more than stand by his daughter. He joined our team as the driver of the van, transporting children from our Dacha Family House to the hospital and back. By helping other families, Nastia's father found a way to give back the kindness that saved his own child. And he continues this work now that Nastia has completed treatment and is enjoying life, treasuring the moments she once missed while in the hospital.
With your continued support, more children like Nastia will have the chance not only to survive but to make their dreams come true. Thank you!
