Karima Gets Back to Normal

Dear friends,

thank you so much for supporting seriously ill children from Ukraine.

Unfortunately, here there are a lot of kids who need your help. They need your help even if they have both parents who are ready to do anything, so that their kids could receive the best treatment available.  However, there are children like Karima. Her father left the family many years ago and forgot about his daughter. Her mother is seriously ill and cannot take care of her daughter. The girl can count only on her retired grandmother who receives a very small Ukrainian pension.

One day Karima lost consciousness. It lasted only a few seconds but repeated more than once. The girl went to the local hospital for examinations and a brain tumor was detected. The family that suffered so much had to deal with another tragedy.

As it often happens provincial doctors didn’t suggest any treatment. For them cancer is a death sentence. However, the family didn’t give up. They went to Kyiv, to the capital, and found a doctor who prescribed a therapy. It helped to overcome certain symptoms but it was not enough. That’s why Karima was hospitalized at the Institute of Neurosurgery where she underwent a surgery to remove the tumor. We provided the girl with necessary medicines and medical materials.

Karima is very talented. She plays the pipe and other musical instruments and likes to paint. She joined our project Art Healing Power in the context of which kids made paintings with the help of a volunteer artist and sold their works at charity auctions to earn some money for treatment and toys.

Now Karima continues post-operative rehabilitation. The doctors’ prognosis is optimistic. The girl will be able to get back to normal life quite soon.

Thank you for your contributions! Without the help of the others such kids like Karima who cannot rely on their parents wouldn’t have a chance.
