Dear friends,
Zaporuka Foundation team thanks you for being with us in 2016 and we hope that you will be with us in 2017.
With your help, we continue helping little patients of the National Institute of Cancer and the Pediatric Department of Neurosurgery in Kyiv as well as the Western Ukrainian Pediatric Medical Center in Lviv.
We are preparing our complete annual report including all the information about Zaporuka Foundation activities in 2016 that we will send to you as soon as it is ready. And today we share with you some important facts from our report in progress. Thus, last year we provided 195 kids from all over Ukraine with individual assistance: medicines, medical consumables, implants, prostheses and other essential things. Without people’s donations, these children couldn’t receive necessary treatment.
For example, 3-year-old Sofia had a recurrent tumor. Her parents who had spent all their savings paying for their daughter’s treatment for the first time could barely find money to come to the hospital in Kyiv from a remote village for the second time. Sofia needed an urgent surgery and her parents had to buy all the necessary medicines and medical materials that were not available at the hospital. They didn’t have the money to buy anything but the girl did have a surgery because we could provide her with everything that was needed thanks to your donations. Now little Sofia feels better, sometimes she even shows visitors her surgery scars saying that it has to be disinfected. She continues treatment and her family is sure that she will get well.
Also, we are very proud of the fact that we managed to bring to Ukraine the antitumor antibiotic Cosmegen that is included into modern treatment protocols but is not registered in Ukraine and therefore cannot be sold in Ukraine legally. Before children’s parents had to buy the medicines of dubious quality on the black market. Now all children who need this drug receive it for free at the hospital. It’s one of the projects that makes difference.
Zaporuka Foundation is very grateful for each of your donation that helps us to help these kids. We plan to continue all of our activities: individual assistance, purchase of medical equipment, psychological support, rehabilitation service, leisure time activities.
Our motto is sharing the love. We are sharing love with kids and we are doing it together with you.
