With this project, Bien Humano Foundation provides quality education to Colombian adults in vulnerable conditions, who do not know how to read or write, or have not finished primary school and who cannot otherwise access or afford it, allowing them to access the basic right of education that for some reason was denied to them. The training processes are aimed at acquiring basic reading, writing and arithmetic operations skills applicable to the context, improving the daily life of each student.
Education is a right recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations Organization since 1948 and it is currently included as one of the essential Sustainable Development Goals to end poverty and inequality. Nevertheless, education is a right that around 781 million people in the world have not been able to access. In Colombia, the eradication of illiteracy is an urgent challenge because there are almost 2 million ILLITERATE adults in the country who need education.
For 16 years we have implemented literacy processes, which allows students to understand and transform their reality and strengthen at the same time their personal, family and social training, providing them learning in areas as important as health, civic commitment, family life and parenting, reduction of poverty and crime and well-being. At the end of the training process, adults feel useful, productive, develop better in their environment and strengthen themselves as citizens.
The acquisition of an integral education is the essential basis to improve the quality of people's life and the social and economic development of a territory. Offer education to an illiterate person means expand his life opportunities through new knowledge, developing skills and improving attitudes in the face of work, family and community. A literate person can improve his income, can be a more committed citizen and improve his role as a family member. Don't you want to be part of this change?
