16 Days of Activism 2025

Thanks to your continued support, the past months have marked a period of significant growth, visibility, and impact for Spring ACT. What we have achieved since September 2025 would not have been possible without our donors and community standing behind us, and we are deeply grateful for that trust.

Key achievements

Slovakia Launch: In October, we successfully launched Chatbot Sophia in Slovakia. After months of collaboration with distinguished partners and experts, including mapping all support services, rights and police processes in the country, we held the event at the European Commission representation in Bratislava, symbolically welcoming the first EU Member State to Sophia’s detailed knowledge base. This means victim-survivors in Slovakia can now access tailored, safe, anonymous support through Sophia.

Strengthening community engagement: We launched our Ambassador Programme in Switzerland, welcoming committed Ambassadors who are actively raising awareness both online and offline. In parallel, we introduced the Sophia Superheroes, a new programme designed to enable supporters to join us and contribute regularly and sustainably to people affected by domestic violence.
Global awareness and advocacy: During the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, we ran an online campaign focused on recognising the signs that someone may be affected by domestic violence: an essential step toward early intervention and prevention. Sophia was also featured on the Swiss Red Cross website and the European Union External Action Service platform supporting survivors of domestic violence worldwide, significantly increasing our international visibility.
Strategic outreach and partnerships: We conducted a large-scale outreach campaign to all Swiss Embassies worldwide and to UN Women offices globally, strengthening institutional awareness of Sophia as a trusted, survivor-centred tool. In Switzerland, we also initiated a partnership with the Zurich police to further adapt and improve Sophia for use in a law-enforcement context: an important step toward systemic change.
Celebrating progress together: We hosted a Sophia Party in Zurich, bringing together long-time supporters and partners to reflect on this year’s milestones and celebrate how far the initiative has come.

Looking ahead

As we enter a new year, we do so with ambition and clarity. We are preparing for deeper partnerships with local and international organisations and expanded outreach so that more people know where to turn in moments of danger. Our vision remains clear: if you are in trouble, there is only one name you need to remember: Sophia.

Sophia: Winner of the UN AI for Good Award

Dear supporters and GlobalGiving community,

We have had a greatly impactful past few months and are excited to share our updates and milestones with you. Your support truly means the world to us and all of this is only possible thanks to people like you!

Impact Highlights

In July 2025, the United Nations recognised us with the inaugural UN AI for Good Impact Award, naming Sophia as one of the world’s best AI solutions! We further expanded partnerships, are designing awareness raising campaigns now reaching 500,000+ people on LinkedIn and Chatbot Sophia was featured in Forbes magazine! Most importantly, we have continued to make Sophia better and more helpful for people in need:

Safer, more human support. We rebuilt Sophia’s conversation engine on the basis of 177 feedback submissions. Sophia’s previously factual replies are now a lot more compassionate and validating, reflecting two-way, trauma-informed dialogue as well as safety playbooks (quick-exit, crisis cues, evidence guidance).
Quality through co-design. We organised two expert exchanges and survivor workshops that informed tone, language, and local content relevance.
Access where survivors are. We launched a completely redesigned website, a Sophia plugin to offer to partner organisations worldwide, and a new community outreach programme called AI Impact Ambassador Programme. All of these combined are increasing awareness on domestic violence and Sophia’s existing support, placing entry points in hospitals, clinics, universities, salons, sports clubs, etc.

We are currently

In October, we are launching Sophia in Slovakia, making additional help available on a district level to 5.4 million people in the country.
We are kick-starting our global AI Impact Ambassador programme with on-the-ground Ambassadors, deep-rooting local advocacy efforts to make support universally accessible in further countries.
We are improving and expanding Sophia’s knowledge base to make specialised help accessible to more marginalised communities, such as refugees, people living with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Sophia: Safe, Fast, Free Help for Victim-Survivors of Domestic Violence

Dear supporters and GlobalGiving community,

We are happy to share an update on the progress of our project Little by Little, We Can End Domestic Violence. Your support has helped us continue to grow and improve Chatbot Sophia to support victim-survivors of domestic violence around the world.

Impact Highlights:

We launched Chatbot Sophia’s new website. The site is now significantly more user-friendly and features a broader range of relevant resources for survivors seeking support. The chatbot interface has also been redesigned to resemble a separate chatroom, helping users feel safer and more comfortable when speaking with Sophia: www.sophia.chat
We expanded Sophia’s knowledge base by drafting and integrating 36 new Knowledge Articles. Sophia can now respond more effectively to questions on topics such as the cycle of abuse, how to support a friend, neighbour, or colleague experiencing domestic violence, and mental wellbeing during and after abuse, among many others.
We made Sophia’s support available to 2.4 million people in the Republic of Moldova! Sophia can now support people in Romanian, Ukrainian and Russian to find the nearest support services, provide information with regards to their rights and police processes.

Behind the Scenes:

We’ve been deepening our partnerships with frontline organisations in preparation for even greater reach and refining Chatbot Sophia’s prompt logic, improving her responsiveness.

We are deeply grateful for every contribution that helps us move the needle in making a violence-free world a reality for every woman. This campaign has helped us connect with new supporters and reflect on how we communicate our impact more clearly. A valuable learning moment we’re taking forward.

Looking Ahead:

In the coming months, we plan to:

Officially launch Chatbot Sophia in new countries. On 10 June, we will be holding a launch event in Slovakia in collaboration with local partners. Sophia will be available to support survivors by providing expert information across the country in Slovak and Ukrainian.
Launch a new design of the Digital Safe, Sophia’s in-built secure storage centre, where survivors can upload supporting documentation (photos, videos, screenshots, voice-recordings, documents) of the abuse they may be facing.
Implement feedback received as a result of consultations with domestic violence experts, survivors, law enforcement, and social services into Sophia’s core features.
