Rebuilding Lives After Devastating Earthquakes

By Sebnem Belfin utkan | International Relations Officer

Introduction:
On the morning of February 6, 2023, a devastating earthquake, measuring 7.5 in magnitude, struck Kahramanmaras in eastern Turkey, affecting 9 different cities. The situation worsened with a subsequent 7.7 magnitude earthquake 9 hours later. Official reports indicate that the earthquakes impacted more than 13.5 million people, resulting in a rising death toll, with over 12,000 houses and buildings collapsing or sustaining damage.

Challenge:
The loss of life has surpassed 13,000, and adverse weather conditions have exacerbated the challenges faced by survivors. Many individuals were caught unprepared during sleep, and their clothing is inadequate for the harsh conditions. Urgent needs include clean water, winter clothes, blankets, food, shelter, medicine, and medical treatment. The goal of our campaign is to raise $200,000 to address these pressing issues.

Current Status: 9.661,00

Total Goal: $200,000
Remaining: $190,339
Donors: 49
Monthly Donors: 0
Campaign Duration: 9 months

Solution:
The impact of the earthquake on individuals already battling cancer has intensified their struggle. Your generous donations will directly benefit cancer patients and their families in 10 affected cities. The funds raised will be allocated to provide essential relief, including clean water, winter clothing, blankets, food, temporary shelter, and medical treatment.

Long-Term Impact:
The earthquake has significantly affected more than 81,000 children and adults with leukemia and cancer, with over 5,000 patients residing in the affected area, many of whom have lost their homes. Your contributions will play a crucial role in addressing long-term treatment costs, providing temporary housing, meeting food and beverage needs, supplying clothing, and supporting various other necessities.

How Your Donations Will Be Used:

Long-Term Treatment Costs: Supporting ongoing medical treatments for cancer patients affected by the earthquake.
Accommodation in Temporary Homes: Providing shelter for those who have lost their homes.
Food and Beverage Needs: Ensuring access to nutritious meals for affected individuals and families.
Clothing Needs: Supplying winter clothing to protect against harsh weather conditions.
And Much More: Addressing the diverse and evolving needs of the affected population.
We sincerely appreciate the support of our 49 donors and kindly urge others to contribute to our campaign. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those affected by this tragedy.

Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
