We develop large-scale vegetable gardens in poverty-stricken areas that create food sustainability and empower communities to be self-sufficient. These Love Gardens serve existing soup kitchens and provide an income for community members as surplus vegetables can be sold. They also serve as a training hub facility where the community members are taught how to grow their own backyard gardens.
Port Elizabeth is one of the regions in South Africa hardest hit by unemployment and hunger. Child malnutrition rates are among the highest in the country. Every day, families struggle to meet their basic nutritional needs, placing children at severe risk of stunting, poor health and developmental delays.
Our Love Gardens address hunger, malnutrition, and unemployment by establishing large-scale vegetable gardens in poverty-stricken areas. These gardens provide fresh produce to soup kitchens, helping feed hundreds of families and reduce child malnutrition. Beyond food, these gardens empower communities through training, enabling people to grow their own backyard gardens and earn income by selling surplus produce. Each garden becomes a sustainable hub of nourishment, skills, and hope.
In the long term, Love Gardens will help communities become food secure, self-sufficient, and economically empowered. By reducing hunger and child malnutrition, teaching essential gardening skills, and creating small income-generating opportunities, these gardens restore dignity, build resilience, and lay the foundation for lasting change. They don't just feed people - they equip them to thrive and create a sustainable future.
