BIF is thrilled to announce the launch of LunaYou: A Woman-Centered Maternal Wellbeing Program. LunaYou offers women the ability to manage risk factors, track their health and wellbeing goals, and access a dedicated Wellbeing Coach to help them throughout their pregnancy, and in the first three months after their baby is born. LunaYou encourages women to share their journey with their personal support network and their Wellbeing Coach, who together, enable rapid and seamless connection to care.
Women in the U.S. are more likely to experience serious maternal morbidity and die from childbirth than any other high income nation. Women on Medicaid are 82% more likely to develop life threatening complications than women who are privately insured. Black women are 3x more likely to die in childbirth than white women. Black and Latina women experience rising and disproportionately higher rates of premature births. 38% of women of color suffer from postpartum depression.
LunaYou helps to reduce the maternal morbidity rate and close the disparity gap in the US by putting the woman at the center of her pregnancy. Each woman will receive an activity tracker and a blood pressure monitor to access to real time information relevant to her health and wellbeing. Each woman is given tools to focus on her personal power while creating the confidence needed to take charge of her pregnancy and have influence over her wellbeing through a Wellbeing Coach and Circle of Support
As we prototype LunaYou we learn directly from the women participating that our personalized wellbeing platform is helping them improve their own maternal wellbeing. Science tells us that improved maternal wellbeing leads to better outcomes. In 2021 LunaYou will serve a large enough population of women to begin to quantify it's impact on maternal health outcomes.
