Hi Everyone,

We hope that you are all well and enjoying a wonderful summer so far.

We are excited to announce our newest Lynn Sage Scholar, Dr. Sarika Jain. We have pledged to provide Dr. Jain with $100,000 to help her investigate immunotherapy as a complimentary approach for eliminating breast cancer. This novel approach entails a bacterial vaccine injected into a metastatic tumor, which causes massive tumor destruction and generates an immune response to specifically target and eliminate disseminated tumors throughout the body.

As Dr. Jain enters into her research, we will continue to work tirelessly in The Lynn Sage Foundation office to raise the funds necessary to fund her work. To read more about Dr Jain’s experience and research, please click here.

We will welcome Dr. Jain to the Lynn Sage Foundation family with a reception at Northwestern University on August 27. If you would like to help in welcoming Dr. Jain, please email us at info@lynnsagefoundation.org.

Its hard to believe, but October is right around the corner. October marks the return of The Lynn Sage Foundation’s signature campaign, Chicago’s In Good Taste! 2013 marks the sixth year of the campaign, with over 150 restaurants participating in and around Chicago to help raise much needed funds for breast cancer research during breast cancer awareness month.

When you dine at a participating restaurant you will have the option of adding $1 or more to your bill, or purchasing a special menu item. All donations or proceeds from the specified menu item benefit The Lynn Sage Foundation and local breast cancer research.

The Lynn Sage Foundation Summer 2013

We hope that you are all well and looking forward to a nice Summer.

We are pleased to share that former Lynn Sage Scholar, Dr. Virginia Kaklamani has recently published a report titled "Adiponectin pathway polymorphisms and risk of breast cancer in African Americans and Hispanics in the Women's Health Initiative." We could not be more proud of the work Dr. Kaklamani has done in the name of Lynn Sage and in the fight to eradicate breast cancer. The Lynn Sage Foundation has been busy as we continue to raise funds for crucial breast cancer research and our current scholar, Dr. Chonghui Cheng. Our annual Mother’s Day eCard campaign was a great success, raising over $30,000 with the help of generous donors and our corporate sponsor, Beecken Petty O'Keefe & Co.

The Lynn Sage Foundation Associate Board will be hosting a Summer Kickoff Event in Chicago at RM Champagne Salon on Thursday, June 13th from 5:30-7:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased for $25 at www.lynnsagefoundation.org/events

As Lynn Sage Scholar Dr. Cheng continues her hard work and research, investigating the biological components and pathways that control tumor metastasis and recurrence, we will continue to work tirelessly in The Lynn Sage Foundation office to raise the funds necessary to fund this research.

The Lynn Sage Foundation Spring Report

Hi Everyone,

We are so grateful for your generous support and hope that you will join us in our continued fight against breast cancer in 2013.

As we reflect on 2012, we could not be more proud of the innovative research being conducted on behalf of The Lynn Sage Foundation. As always, we continue to raise crucial funds to support research in an effort to find a cure for breast cancer.

In 2012, The Lynn Sage Foundation established an Associate Board comprised of young professionals committed to raising funds for breast cancer research in the name of Lynn Sage. This was accomplished with the help of corporate sponsor Mesirow Financial. With the support of this board, along with our original group of supporters, we hosted our inaugural Chill After Party. This new event was a huge success in engaging a new generation of donors.

2012 also brought the second year of funding for Dr. Cheng. Dr. Cheng's lab focuses on investigating the biological components and pathways that control tumor metastasis and recurrence, which represent the two major obstacles in the successful treatment of cancer.

As we launch into 2013 we are looking forward to funding our 4th Lynn Sage Scholar. This year, as we work with Northwestern University to choose a promising young investigator as our next Lynn Sage Scholar, we continue to develop our fundraising initiatives with the hope that as soon as 2014, we will be able to fund two Lynn Sage Scholars working toward our goal of eradicating breast cancer. New areas that we are eager to support include nutrition and epidemiology.

Our next major fundraising campaign occurs this Spring. In celebration of Mother's Day we hold our annual campaign where donors make a donation in honor of their loved one and send a thoughtful eCard in time for Mother's Day. In conjunction with this campaign, we will be introducing a newly designed website (www.lynnsagefoundation.org) enhancing communication with our supporters.
