Challenge

Children with neurological disorders often experience difficulties in social, emotional, and cognitive aspects. These can include learning disorders, intellectual disabilities, and socio-emotional issues such as anxiety, depression, and phobias. Similarly, adults may confront mental health disorders alongside complications from neurological conditions such as strokes, head injuries, or dementias. These challenges frequently result in a diminished quality of life.

Solution

The Therapeutic Garden will be designed to stimulate the senses of children and adults and providing numerous opportunities for experiential learning and active explorations. The aromatic garden section promotes relaxation and reduces alertness. Various textures and surfaces across the garden facilitate the development of fine and gross motor skills, while sections with vibrant colors and sound elements improve cognitive stimulation and contribute to language development.

Long-Term Impact

This pioneer project aims to provide therapy to more than 100 families served by the school and the Multidisciplinary Cabinet of the Querer Foundation. Furthermore, our goal is to inspire other schools and communities to extend the benefits of sensory gardens, enabling cognitive function and language development, thereby improving the quality of life for individuals with neurological disorders and their families.
