iYouth iFuture will provide enabling environment for young refugees and asylum seekers in Nairobi to feel-at-home; to discover, explore and develop their talents through sporting activities, creativity and poetry. Empowerment on violence against girls, give young people voices, capacity and responsibility to participate in peacebuilding and conflict resolution in order to eliminate the feeling of statelessness that comes with many dangers such as mental health & trauma and violence.
Nairobi hosts 80,000 of 480,000 refugees in Kenya. Young refugees and asylum seekers in Nairobi feel left out. As statelessness persons, they are denied access to opportunities leading to self-discovery, exploration and development of talents and therefore do not feel-at-home resulting to dangerous mental health issues and traumas. They find no or a very less space to express and participate in activities that enhance personal growth & health. Project targets more than 300 refugees in Nairobi.
iYouth iFuture will provide 300 young refugees and asylum seekers in Nairobi with sporting activities; tournaments. Creative arts competition, poetry promotion, talent nurturing and development, gender based violence awareness and peacebuilding. Training on conflict resolution mechanisms and Theater Shows allowing them to feel-at-home and connected to their dreams, reflect on their lives and that of their home countries.
The project will unleash and develop hidden talents of over 300 young refugees and asylum seekers in sports (football, basketball and volleyball teams), and poetry, creativity. Skills and knowledge in peacebuilding and conflict resolution as well as reduction on mental health issues. Heal traumas and make over 1000 refugees and asylum seekers feel-at-home, uplifting the less fortunate.
