BREADS supports girl children who are rescued from dangerous situations of child labour or other child rights violations and places them in Don Bosco rehabilitation centres. They are provided residential short-term remedial education and then admitted to formal schools to complete their education.
In North Karnataka, one of the least developed regions in Karnataka, girl children make up a substantial portion of child labourers and school dropouts, and they are particularly vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, and neglect. Extreme poverty forces parents to send their girl children to work, or stay at home to care of younger siblings while paying little attention to their education.
The girls in these situations of risk are rescued and rehabilitated in Don Bosco Centres. The money mobilized through this project will be used to meet the educational expenses of these poor girl children like school supplies, uniforms, healthy meals, school bags, school fees, and notebooks. The Don Bosco Centres will fund their entire educational costs until they complete their formal school education. Girls who are orphans will be accommodated in boarding homes.
This project would benefit 100 rescued girl children from vulnerable situations. They will be empowered through education. The community and family will undergo long-term transformation as a result of the education of the girls. Society as a whole would gradually change if we educate a girl child. Additionally, it is possible to guarantee the eradication of child labour, lessen school dropouts and stop child marriages in many rural villages in North Karnataka.
