During the period of armed confrontation (in February) between the armed group called "Yakutumba" and the government forces for the control and the administration of the region, our wooden boat of 30 tons under repair on the beach of Kazimia remained intact and well protected by all.
Indeed, the boat that ensures the traffic of people and goods on Lake Tanganyika between the different cities and towns of the Republic of Burundi, the United Republic of Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo generates revenue for the proper functioning of the school (by the teachers' bonuses and the purchase of needy school materials).
After three years of navigation some boards in contact with the water rotted. It is now a question of replacing them with new ones.
However, this project involves the purchase of a new, high horsepower engine (75 horsepower) to efficiently sail our 30-tonne boat. With the purchase of this new machine, our boat will face stiff competition with the other boats that sail on the lake and will ensure its own safety.
We thank our various donors for their generous donations and continue to support us so that the project objective (purchase of a new and appropriate machine) is achieved.
We wish to receive suggestions so that we can improve further.
