Project Report | Oct 26, 2020
A new 75 horsepower machine (6)

By Mabwe Lucien | Project Leader

We continue to live through difficult times due to the corona virus. Admittedly, the state of emergency decreed by the Government last March was lifted last July, thus allowing the opening of worship services, markets and the freedom of demonstrations and assembly.

The health situation has stabilized with fewer contaminations and fewer deaths. The country has 11,143 cases of corona virus, 305 death and 10,467 recovered.

Despite a marked improvement, the borders are not always open with our direct neighbors namely Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda. Local air traffic is limited. To the Government's call to open public schools on October 12, 2020 under strict protective measures, few schools have responded favorably so far.

For Glenn Paige Nonkilling School, we have postponed the opening of the school until we are able to better protect our children through barrier measures (wearing masks, washing hands and distancing measures)

Our boat made up of the wooden boat (hull) that we rent, which should transport people and goods on Lake Tanganyika between our country, Burundi and Tanzania remains most of the time immobilized in the port of Kazimia.

Our project remains the purchase of a new 75 horsepower engine to be able to navigate our 30 tonne boat and thus make our School profitable.

We ask our generous donors to continue to support us in this hard period so that we can provide our boat with this needy equipment and make our School for children victims of war, prosperous and profitable.

God bless you.
