Dear supporters,
As we close our GlobalGiving project, we wanted to share one final update and thank you for being part of this journey.
We now have fewer than 75 printed copies of the book remaining. More than 100 copies have already been donated or distributed at a reduced price throughout our community, helping share the oral history of our territory and celebrate the extraordinary biodiversity of the Upper Mamoní watershed. We are proud that the book has reached local families, students, and supporters who will help keep these stories alive.
To make the book more widely accessible, we have also made a digital edition available at bit.ly/MAMONIBOOK, along with instructions for making a voluntary donation. We hope the online version will continue reaching new readers while helping us recover some of the printing costs and, eventually, support future updates and a new edition.
We are also exploring the idea of a podcast featuring conversations with local elders, scientists, and community members. The stories are there—we are simply looking for an enterprising young person who would like to help bring the project to life.
Although our work continues, we have decided to close this project on GlobalGiving. As a small community-based organization in rural Panama, the platform's monthly transfer requirements and international bank transfer fees—often around US$40 per transfer—make it difficult for us to use the platform efficiently at our current fundraising scale.
If you would still like to support this work, donations can be made directly through the author's PayPal at jausinheiler@gmail.com. Every contribution goes further when it reaches us without the added administrative and banking costs.
Thank you for believing in the importance of community knowledge, local history, and biodiversity conservation. Your generosity has helped preserve stories, strengthen local pride, and connect more people with one of Panama's most remarkable landscapes.
With gratitude,
AMIGOS DEL BOSQUE OBC
