2018 has been a successful year at Village HopeCore where we have witnessed remarkable success through our health program in Maara Sub County. When managed to conduct 425 mobile clinics in schools and 465 Maternal and Child Health Clinics. Our main targets were children under 5 years, we conducted over 16,586 growth monitoring and supplemented 4,536 children on Vitamin A. In 2018.
Early 2018, we recruited 48 Neighbourhood Community Health Volunteers who have greatly supported in disseminating health education in the villages. The NCHVs have managed to conduct 4,686 home visits and offered health education to over 14,000 community members. The NCHVs also conduct follow up on immunization, pregnancies and children neglect or abuse cases.
Village HopeCore also focused on ensuring that parents have manageable families which were implemented through family planning education and services. We managed to offer family planning services to 3,094 clients and we distributed 42,117 condoms.
In April, we conducted teachers training with an aim of making the teachers champion health services in their respective schools. Our Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) program delivered 4,512 bottles of water treating reagent and 6,580 litres of soap to our partner school. We also conducted water testing using some test kits that helped identify if the drinking water in school tanks are treated or not.
Here are some additional 2017 highlights.
