Challenge

Fener-Balat area is one of the oldest settlements in Istanbul. The area houses Turks, Kurds, Romani, to a lesser extent Greeks and Armenians and with the war in Syria, Syrians. The area receives migrations non-stop. Ethnical, religious and cultural differences, secluded lives, poverty and conservatism brings problems like; violence, discrimination, lack of confidence, being drawn away from education, moving towards risky economic methods. Children are the most disadvantaged group here.

Solution

Educational and entertainment zones for children will be implemented. They will be supported in meeting each other and in discovering their own skills. Art activities, tours and joint-games, as well as games and exercises based on violence, discrimination and awareness raising on human rights will be implemented. Personal therapy will be an active service for children that require. All activities will be implemented by psychological therapist and our volunteers.

Long-Term Impact

150 children will be the beneficiaries of Project, from different cultural backgrounds and ethnicity.Children will be past the stage of developing skills for friendships, entertainment behaviors, getting to know each other, understand each other and work with company. This Project is under the headline of "Children Programs" that have been going on since 2012 throughout various projects.Contact with the very same children will be in place throughout the educational support program in school time
