Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you for your generous donation to our project providing support to those affected by the eruption of Mayon volcano. Local residents are forced to evacuate and have been staying in evacuation centers due to uncertain situation as the volcano continue to spew toxic fumes and lava. The affected communities have been experiencing this situation from time to time and the biggest problem is how to support their food needs once they are allowed by authorities to go back to their own barrios. Our intervention is simple yet powerful and that is we distribute seeds and organic fertilizer that local residents can bring back home and start their own gardening activities. We also pilot 2 units low-cost latrine in one evacuation center in Barrio Tamaoyan in order to showcase to the local government unit and aid agencies working there simple yet effective sanitation in times like these. Aside from the latrines, we were able to distribute a total of 1,350 seed packets to 830 families living in Barrio Tamaoyan, Maisi and Mabinit. We were able to partner with a local college, the Bicol College in our effort and we were able to access logistics and volunteers from them.
Again, thank you very much for your generous support.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
