Pakistan ranked 77th out of a total of 112 countries in the Global Food Security Index of 2018. Pakistan has the second highest hunger score (32.6) in all of Asia after Afghanistan. Moreover, one of the most malnourished and poorest regions in the world, Tharparkar, is located in Pakistan’s province, Sindh. In Sindh, fifty percent of the children below five years of age are stunted and nineteen percent are severely malnourished. In addition to this, Pakistan ranked 106 out of 119 countries on the Global Hunger Index (GHI) with a score of 32.6, second only to Afghanistan in the South East Asian Region. And last but not the least, 39% of Pakistan’s population is living in multidimensional poverty (Pakistan Economic Survey 2017-2018).
The above statistics clearly explain the state of poverty and hunger in Pakistan. There are thousands of people who sleep with an empty stomach every night. Therefore, Fatima Memorial Hospital and NUR Foundation have taken the matter in their own hands and have started supplying food to NUR Community Outreach Program (NCOP) schools’ students. The students of NCOP belong to underprivileged backgrounds and they are unable to afford three meals per day.
We provide meals to more than 1850 students every day so that they can focus on their studies and live a healthy life. It was all because of the generous donations of our esteemed donors that we are able to carry out this task. In order for us to continue serving the poverty stricken masses, we urge you to join hands with us and make as many donations as possible.
Thank you for your continued support!
