Dear Donors,
Thank you for supporting the Mechimo and Theresa Memorial Midwife Scholarship, which will fully sponsor 500 rural and underserved women in Nigeria to study midwifery. Your support helps address the critical shortage of skilled midwives and saves lives by improving maternal and newborn care.
Maternal mortality in Nigeria remains alarmingly high, especially in rural areas, where complications often go untreated due to a lack of trained midwives. Many young women in underserved communities also lack access to educational opportunities that could allow them to pursue healthcare careers. Without intervention, preventable deaths will continue and maternal care gaps will persist.
This scholarship provides full tuition, study materials, clinical training, and licensing support. Graduates will return to their communities ready to provide expert maternal and neonatal care, reducing deaths and improving overall health outcomes. By focusing on practical skills and maternal health, the project strengthens both education and healthcare infrastructure.
Over time, trained midwives will save lives, serve as role models, and encourage more young women to pursue healthcare careers. With more skilled staff in rural clinics, communities gain lasting improvements in maternal and child health.
At this stage, while some support has been received, additional donations are needed to kickstart this life-changing project. Your continued generosity can make this life-saving work possible.
With thanks,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
