This project provides a medical safety net for low-income households in Ghana by covering essential healthcare costs such as consultations, medicines, diagnostic tests, and emergency care, ensuring vulnerable families receive timely treatment and avoid preventable suffering.
Thousands of low-income households in Ghana are unable to afford essential medical care due to poverty, lack of insurance coverage, and rising healthcare costs. When illness strikes, families are often forced to delay treatment, sell assets, borrow at high interest, or go without care entirely-leading to preventable complications, long-term disability, or even death.
This project will provide direct financial support to vulnerable households to cover critical medical expenses such as consultations, diagnostic tests, medications, emergency treatment, and hospital admissions. By acting as a medical safety net, the project ensures that cost is not a barrier to accessing timely and life-saving healthcare, especially for women, children, the elderly, and people with chronic illnesses.
In the long term, this project will help break the cycle of poverty caused by health-related financial shocks. Healthier families are better able to work, care for their children, and contribute to their communities. By reducing preventable illness and economic hardship, the project promotes stronger, more resilient households and communities across Ghana.
