Harmony Life's goal is to provide ongoing medical care to an estimated 10,000 people annually in the underserved area of Kyamasongi Village, Uganda. Currently, people suffer immensely due to lack of care and are dying of treatable diseases. Our plan is to build a level 3 medical facility as well as a guest house, (to provide sustainable income to support staffing of the clinic). This fundraising effort will go directly toward construction costs to build the foundation of the structures.
In Uganda, medical services and preventative care are often inaccessible. On average, 14 children die from Malaria per day. 1.6 million people live with HIV. 53% of children under 5 are anemic. 25% of females age 10-19 have had a baby or are pregnant. Laboring mothers are turned away from hospitals if they don't bring their own supplies for their delivery. Clinics often have no staff or medicine available. With 21% of Ugandans living in poverty and with no medical care, the suffering is great.
This project will bring quality healthcare to the underserved village of Kyamasongi, Uganda. Treatment and medications will be available for people suffering from Malaria, HIV/AIDS, and other illnesses and diseases. Seminars will be held on topics such as hygiene, nutrition and family planning. We will also assist in community development by creating jobs and training community members in the healthcare field. Telehealth will be incorporated into our services for the more severe cases.
This project is the first step in providing long-term health care solutions. By training local medical practitioners and having an on-going physical presence in the community, overall quality of life will improve. Mortality rates will decrease. Pregnant mothers will have safer deliveries. Less children will be orphaned by treatable diseases like Malaria. Families will be better equipped and empowered through personal health and prevention information. Lives will be restored.
