The two local community-based safe houses continue to operate in South and North Kivu providing medical assistance such as reparative surgeries for rape-related injuries, psycho-social support, information and referral to legal clinics for victims/survivors of sexual and gender based violence.
The North Kivu safe house has struggled to carry on in the aftermath of the Mount Nyiragongo volcano eruption but has continued to provide sexual and reproductive health services to survivors. Also, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the two safe houses have continuously looked for solutions to face the crisis and provide support to survivors by distributing sanitiser, masks, and raising awareness about health measures.
