The two local community-based safe houses in South and North Kivu continue to operate, providing much-needed medical assistance such as reparative surgeries for rape-related injuries, psycho-social support, information and referral to legal clinics for victims/survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.
Raising awareness about reducing SGBV-related stigma remains crucial for survivors and the community. To address this, local partners actively organize outreach sessions engaging local faith leaders and advocates on the importance of reporting SGBV incidents rather than accepting informal agreements with the perpetrator or their family.
Local partners also support initiatives to set up humanitarian corridors, conduct advocacy for the non-recruitment and use of children in armed groups, and conduct rapid assessments with displaced or returned people and others.
