Menstrual Hygiene Initiative Report: Empowering Girls in Rural Nepal
Introduction:
Bahini Educare Foundation, is committed to preventing human trafficking and supporting the well-being of girls in rural Nepal. To meet our objectives, we organise and implement several grassroot initiatives such as the Menstrual Hygiene Awareness. This report outlines the activities conducted, their impact, and the foundation's plans for future initiatives.
Activities:
Awareness Sessions:
Conducted interactive sessions to normalize menstruation conversations, dispel myths, and provide accurate information on menstrual hygiene. The target beneficiaries are young girls that are approaching or recently starting menstruation.
Interactive Classes:
Designed highly participatory classes, fostering a safe environment for open discussions about menstruation.
Distribution of Menstrual Products:
We provide the girls in these school with access to sanitary pads and the distribution is facilitated by a peer group. The aim of which is to ensure access to safe and hygienic menstrual products for our target groups.
Impact:
Direct Beneficiaries:
Over 200 girls have directly benefited from the distribution of sanitary pads meeting their essential hygiene needs.
Stigma Reduction:
Interactive classes successfully removed stigma surrounding menstruation and provided accurate information, empowering girls with knowledge.
Normalization of Conversations:
Contributed to creating a more open and supportive environment for girls in rural areas.
Ongoing Support and Education:
We are committed to providing continuous support and education to ensure the menstrual health and hygiene needs of girls and young women are met.
Conclusion:
The Menstrual Hygiene Initiative by Bahini Educare Foundation marks a significant step towards breaking the silence surrounding menstruation in rural Nepal. By distributing sanitary pads, providing education, and fostering open conversations, the foundation positively impacted the lives of over 200 girls.
