Dear Supporters,
We are thrilled to share the highlights and positive outcomes of our Menstrual Hygiene Initiative. Your unwavering support has enabled us to make a substantial impact in the lives of young girls in rural Nepal. We can proudly say over 1000 girls directly impacted by our initiative and this could not have been possible without your kindness and generosity.
Mentioned below is our journey of impact.
2. Activities:
2.1 School Selection:
We identify government run or community schools in rural areas with a pressing need for menstrual hygiene awareness campaigns.
2.2 Awareness Sessions:
We conducted interactive sessions to normalize menstruation conversations, dispel myths, and provide accurate information on menstrual hygiene.
For all these sessions, girls approaching or recently starting menstruation were the target groups.
2.3 Interactive Classes:
Designed highly participatory classes, fostering a safe environment for open discussions about menstruation. A few boys were included in each class to make it taboo free.
2.4 Distribution of Menstrual Products:
We Provided 1500 packs of sanitary pads and 500 bars of soap to each of the selected schools. We aimed to ensure access to safe and hygienic menstrual products for over 500 girls and we can proudly say it was a resounding success.
3. Impact:
3.1 Direct Beneficiaries:
Over 1000 girls directly benefited from the distribution of sanitary pads and soap, meeting their essential hygiene needs.
3.2 Stigma Reduction:
Interactive classes successfully removed stigma surrounding menstruation and provided accurate information, empowering girls with knowledge.
3.3 Normalization of Conversations:
Contributed to creating a more open and supportive environment for girls in rural areas.
4 Future Initiatives:
4.1 Regular Menstrual Hygiene Workshops:
Planned ongoing workshops and awareness programs in schools to sustain menstrual hygiene education.
4.2 Community Collaboration:
Intends to collaborate with local communities and organizations to expand the reach of menstrual hygiene initiatives.
4.3 Ongoing Support and Education:
Committed to providing continuous support and education to ensure the menstrual health and hygiene needs of girls and young women are met.
Project Conclusion and Future Initiatives:
We are pleased to announce that we are retiring this project as we have received substantial funds from generous donors, and the government is now providing free sanitary pads in almost all schools. This development ensures that more girls will continue to have access to the necessary menstrual hygiene products.
However, our commitment to menstrual health education remains steadfast. We will continue to conduct awareness programs in schools and communities, ensuring that the conversation around menstrual hygiene remains open and informative.
Thank you for your continued support in empowering young girls and contributing to their health and well-being.
Kind regards,
The Bahini Educare Foundation Team
