Summary

This project aims to offer psychological and social support to 31 women based in Kenya and India who currently work in our organization, Project Tres. The COVID-19 pandemic has hit them and their families hard, making it a huge struggle to continue their own development. By providing them with therapy sessions and a community garden, they will be given resources to heal and get back on their path towards independence and self-growth.

Challenge

Coping with mental health has been a major issue in 2020, and has affected our project's women artisans by putting their jobs and families at risk. Project Tres' team has faced many challenges: lack of job opportunities for themselves and their partners, increase of domestic violence, financial uncertainty and care taking of their children. Our previous five years of hard work have been negatively impacted by COVID-19, undermining their progress and development.

Solution

We will support them with the right psychological support, individually and in groups, to give them the opportunity to share their struggles and find positive solutions with the aid of professional help. Additionally, we will build a community garden in India, that will represent a place for them to engage in regenerative activities. It will be a way to improve their mental health by being in close contact with nature, and to cultivate their own food, sustaining their community.

Long-Term Impact

Continuing to invest in leadership, female entrepreneurship, professional training and personal growth, by providing regular psychological support, skills training and group activities. In doing so, the women and the communities impacted by our work will become stronger and resilient members with the capabilities to become future transformational agents of their own communities, with a potential global impact.
